The Rockport Legion Band is proud to include guest musicians at several of its concerts.
The Creagan More Pipes & Drums
The Creagan More Pipes & Drums have long been a popular part of the Rockport Legion Band’s annual Celtic Celebration summer concert. The Creagan More Pipe Band traces its roots back to 2003, when they were formed to participate in a 4th of July Parade. The sight and sound of the band making its way up Beach Street to perform its own tunes and join with the Rockport Legion Band for combined band music is inspiring.
The Gloucester Student Band
It has become a tradition for The Gloucester Student Band to open the Rockport Legion Band’s annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic summer concert. Founded in 2022, the mission of the Gloucester Student Band is to give students in Gloucester an opportunity to enhance their musical abilities outside of school, and to offer musical performances for nonprofits, fundraisers, nursing homes, and events. Perhaps some of these young musicians will graduate to playing with the Rockport Legion Band someday.
The Rockport Elementary School Chorus
In what the band hopes will become a tradition, the Rockport Elementary School Chorus has twice joined the Rockport Legion Band for its annual holiday concert at the First Congregational Church of Rockport. These young singers certainly add to the holiday spirit.
